Children’s Home Society of South Dakota says it opened its new Rapid City campus on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in partnership with Elevate Rapid City. The campus is in Rapid City, and the announcement says it brings the organization’s local programs together under one roof.
The announcement says the 110,000-square-foot campus was created by renovating the former National American University building. It houses six programs: Residential Treatment, School Programs, Adoption Services through Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, Outpatient Mental Health Services, the Child Advocacy Center, and Child Abuse Prevention, Training and Education.
Children’s Home Society says several services are already underway at the campus, with residential treatment clients expected to move into their new home in early November. The organization describes the renovated facility as a trauma-informed environment designed to support healing, safety and connection.
The organization says JLG Architects designed the renovation, Gustafson Builders of Rapid City was construction manager, and Tegra served as owner’s representative.
Children’s Home Society also announced a final community open house for Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. Mountain Time at the Rapid City campus. The event is open to community members and members of the media, and the announcement says it is the last opportunity for media to tour the facility before residential treatment clients move in. The announcement lists no campus street address or admission cost.
