What the measure does
Today, a proposed change to the South Dakota Constitution passes if more than half of the votes cast support it. This would change the rule so that at least 60% of votes cast must support a future constitutional amendment or revision for it to pass.
What the result means for Rapid City
A no vote means the Constitution stays as it is. Future constitutional amendments would still need more than half of the votes cast to pass.
What happens next
These results are unofficial. They become final when election officials certify them at the canvass, and totals can still change a little as remaining mailed and provisional ballots are counted.
