The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office said its public-facing law enforcement administrative services have moved to the Pennington County Justice Center at 130 Kansas City Street in Rapid City; the release did not specify when the move took place.
The sheriff’s office said the center is in the former Pennington County Administration Building, one block east of the Public Safety Building on Kansas City Street. The office said the Records, Civil and Warrants divisions of the Rapid City Police Department and sheriff’s office have moved there.
The sheriff’s office said the new location provides firearms permits, copies of law enforcement records, fingerprinting and sex offender registry services, as well as a place for people to turn themselves in on a warrant.
The sheriff’s office said the Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, Pennington County 911, Emergency Management, Buildings and Grounds, and Pennington County Fire Service also share the building.
“ The Pennington County Justice Center is a new, more convenient location for many of your law enforcement needs,” Captain Chris Hislip said, according to the release. Hislip said the agencies are together in one building and that the center has plenty of parking to help serve the public’s needs.
