Rapid City Area Schools said Nov. 4 that voters approved its $107 million bond referendum in the Nov. 3 election, moving the district toward work on facility needs across Rapid City schools.
The district said the bond will fund HVAC and energy improvements at Horace Mann Elementary, Meadowbrook Elementary and North Middle School; safety and security upgrades at five schools; an addition and renovation at South Park Elementary; a new elementary school on the Parkview property; and improvements at Stevens High School.
RCAS said its next steps include project design, construction scheduling, financial planning and coordination with professional partners. The district said information about applying to a Bond Advisory Committee will be announced in the coming weeks.
The district also said its existing bond information website will become a progress page with project timelines, construction updates and milestones. RCAS said it plans to provide updates through its website, social media, local media and monthly community newsletter.
According to the announcement, district leaders held nearly 50 community presentations, informational sessions and conversations in recent months to share information about the Facilities Master Plan and proposed improvements.
