Rapid City’s second City Utility Assist Chili Cookoff is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Dahl, according to a contestant registration announcement from the City of Rapid City. The city invites contestants to bring a chili recipe.
The city said the staff-led City Utility Assist initiative raises money to help residents struggling to pay their city utility bills. Proceeds from the event will go to a dedicated account administered by Saint Vincent DePaul to support households facing financial hardship and help them avoid service shutoffs, according to the announcement.
The registration form asks contestants for the chef’s name, recipe name, whether the chili is traditional or nontraditional, and an email address. The city said additional details will be provided after registration. The announcement does not list an event cost or a phone number for inquiries.
