The Rapid City Rush will host the Kansas City Mavericks for the team’s home opener at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Slumberland Furniture Ice at The Monument Ice Arena, the Rush said in its game notes. Rapid City enters at 2-0-0, while Kansas City is 0-2-0, according to the announcement.
The Rush said they beat the Mavericks 4-3 in Kansas City on Saturday to complete a weekend sweep. Ryan Wagner scored twice, including the game-winner with 8:35 remaining, and Alex Young and Tyson Feist also scored, according to the team. Goaltender Owen Say entered in relief in the third period and earned his second win of the series, the Rush said.
The announcement said Wagner and Young each recorded five points over the weekend and were tied for second in ECHL scoring. It also reported that Tyson Feist led the league in plus-minus at +7, followed by teammate Tyler Inamoto at +5.
The Rush said the home opener will feature a new video board at the arena, part of $2.1 million in capital improvements completed over the summer. The team said this will be its first home-opening three-games-in-three-days stretch in 19 years.
